Best PvP pairs
Karl + Petra Berserkers
A coded synergy: with Karl in the troop Petra's Blood Resonance reaches +30% damage to debuffed enemies and -10% damage taken, and Karl's Burst supplies the debuff.
Pair: Karl / Petra / Ganglot. Skill order: Glory of War, Fire & Brimstone, Backfire, Flame's Blessing.
Strength: Durable pair with shields, counterattack Burning and +20% Berserker ATK. Weakness: Petra's skill 2 needs over 13.5M damage per second, so it rarely triggers.
Petra Blood Resonance lieutenant
Lieutenant for Karl; level Blood Resonance first because it is the skill that names him.
Pair: Petra / Karl. Skill order: Blood Resonance, Iron Wall Formation, Counterattack Overture, Dual-Sided Command.
Strength: Large Burst (17,000 awakened) plus Berserker HP and damage. Weakness: Much weaker without Karl.
Freyja Beast Rider tank
Commander for your one Beast Rider march: reflects damage, cuts damage from male-led troops and cuts enemy healing by up to 47%.
Pair: Freyja / Linda / Kalthas / Vista. Skill order: Rose Ward, Force and Finesse, Rose Thorn, Rose's Allure.
Strength: Very hard to kill; punishes heal-heavy enemies. Weakness: Lower damage than the Axe Thrower and Cavalry pairs.
The top open-field pairs are on the meta page. In PvP the three things that decide fights are DEF reduction, sustain and Burst frequency.
Counters
| You face | Answer |
|---|---|
| Heal-heavy marches (Aelfwine, Iris) | Freyja: Rose Thorn cuts enemy healing by up to 47% |
| High DEF and shields | Odysseus (50% DEF ignore), Yi Sun-sin (his Burst strips shields and buffs) |
| Debuff-heavy marches | Wukong: 60% chance to ignore each debuff |
| Burst-reliant commanders | Farhad's rage drain, Voll's Demoralizing Strike |
| Male-led marches | Freyja: up to -15% damage taken from male-led troops |
| Big troops | Kiana and Yi Sun-sin gain value against larger troops |
When to fight
- Fight when an event pays for it. The Tribal Showdown finale scores kills, and Kill Days reward them.
- Before attacking, scout the target and compare troop tier and size.
- Heal immediately afterwards; Medicine use can score in event themes.
Protecting your army
- Use a shield during kill events if you are much weaker than the active attackers.
- Garrison your Wall with defence specialists (garrison guide).
- Keep Infirmary capacity above your garrison size, and move troops out (gathering or reinforcing an ally) if a much stronger march is coming.
Questions players ask
What is the best PvP march in Fate War?
How do I counter heal-heavy marches?
Bring Freyja: Rose Thorn cuts the target's healing by up to 47%.
When should I attack other players?
When an event rewards kills, such as the Tribal Showdown finale. Otherwise lost troops cost more than the fight is worth.
