What late game really costs

Two examples read in game:

Upgrade Cost
Shrine 30 About 121 million each of lumber, stone and iron
Troop HP III, level 8 to 9 144 million lumber and 14.4 million coins; 16 days even with +79.5% research speed

On a mature account food piles up while stone and iron run out. Send gathering marches to stone and iron.

Taxes

Each tax collection uses one Tax Agreement and pays one hour of tax. You can collect up to 96 times a day. Collect every time you log in; it is free coin income.

Gathering heroes

Skerne, Elena and Sigrid have gathering talent trees. Elena and Sigrid both raise Stone gathering speed by 30% and Food, Lumber and Iron by 20% at max level; Elena also adds +35% carrying capacity and, once awakened, +10% resources per completed gathering. Put them on gathering marches, and use them in Race to Forage.

Protecting resources

Resources in your kingdom can be plundered; items in your bag can't. Spend resources on queued upgrades rather than hoarding, and only open resource chests when you need them.
