Fate War building guide and upgrade order
Which buildings to upgrade first, how resource nodes work, and what the late-game upgrade path costs.
Updated 2026-10-15 for game version 1.2.60.
Priorities at a glance
| Building | Priority | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Chieftain Hall | Highest | Your main building. Its level caps every other building, unlocks troop tiers and features, and sets your Call to Arms bracket. |
| Shrine | Highest | The research building, with Economic, Military and Tribal Showdown trees. Research uses Knowledge, resources and time and gives permanent bonuses, including troop tiers. |
| Barracks | Highest | One barracks per troop type (Berserker, Axe Thrower, Cavalry, Beast Rider), so four training queues run at once. |
| Scholar Circles | High | Resource nodes that produce Knowledge, which Shrine research consumes. |
| Resource nodes | Medium | Farms, Fisheries and Hunting Grounds (food), Lumber Mills, Quarries (stone) and Mines (iron). Each node has Production, Transportation, Workers and Roads to upgrade. |
| Builder Commons | High | Assigns workers to construction; workers raise construction speed. |
| Infirmary | High | Produces Medicine and heals wounded soldiers so they return instead of being lost. |
| Wall and garrison | High | Defends your kingdom. Two heroes are assigned to the Wall as garrison commanders. |
| Watchtower | Medium | Warns you about incoming marches. Watchtower tasks score in some Tribal Showdown themes. |
| Miracle Hut | High | Where you call heroes, with Regular and Special Calls, and collect Hero Mementoes. |
| Hero Stele and Codex of Legends | High | Unlocked at Chieftain Hall 25. Awakened heroes can be inscribed and Ascended, and Warband skills live here. |
| Residences | Medium | House the villagers who work your nodes and buildings. |
| Witch Huts | Low | Found in fogged territories; they give large one-time resource boosts. |
Upgrade order by stage
Early game (Chieftain Hall 1 to 15)
- Follow the chapter quests; they lead you through the right buildings.
- Bring every building to the cap, then the Chieftain Hall.
- Upgrade food and lumber nodes first, then stone and iron.
- Clear fogged territories for Witch Huts and chests.
Mid game (Chieftain Hall 15 to 25)
- Shrine research never stops: Economic for production, Military for troop tiers and stats.
- Raise all four barracks for the next troop tier.
- Keep the Infirmary ahead of your army size.
Late game (Chieftain Hall 25 to 30)
- The Hero Stele opens at Chieftain Hall 25; awaken and Ascend your core heroes.
- Push troop HP research and the next troop tier (T6) for your main troop type.
- Shrine 30 costs about 121 million each of lumber, stone and iron, so stockpile stone and iron long before you start.
Resource nodes
| Resource | Nodes |
|---|---|
| Food | Farms, Fisheries, Hunting Grounds, Livestock Ranch |
| Lumber | Lumber Mills |
| Stone | Quarries |
| Iron | Mines |
| Knowledge | Scholar Circles |
Each node has four upgrades:
- Production: how much it makes.
- Transportation: how much moves to storage.
- Workers: who staff it.
- Roads: how fast resources travel.
Keep production slightly above transportation. Nodes close to the Chieftain Hall are collected more often, so give them more production.
Speeding up construction
- Ask for tribe help on every upgrade; each help shaves a little off the timer.
- Assign workers through the Builder Commons.
- Save construction speed-ups for event themes that score them: The Top Chieftain phase 1 pays 100 points per minute.
Questions players ask
What should I upgrade first in Fate War?
Keep the Chieftain Hall moving, but bring other buildings to the cap before each Hall upgrade. Keep the Shrine researching and all four barracks training at all times.
What does the Shrine do?
It is the research building, with Economic, Military and Tribal Showdown trees. Research uses Knowledge from Scholar Circles.
How do resource nodes work?
Each node has Production, Transportation, Workers and Roads. Keep production slightly above transportation so stock moves to storage without piling up.
